Night 1
1. Meat announced on ReVolution 202 that it would be the final time we saw him in the wrestling ring. His manager, Claire Saunders, came out before the opening contest started and christened him a new man with a new name, the Symphony of Destruction, Brandon Pierce. He took on Troy Douglas, but Megatron managed to barely come out the victor. On Night 2, Douglas claimed he was now 100 percent and vowed that he would be nobody's doormat. Is the gimmick of Brandon Pierce capable of being successful in PRIME? Will The Symphony of Destruction be able to crack whatever glass ceiling Meat couldn't? Is Troy Douglas really back and can he get back to the form he once was, or even better?
I personally love the change from Meat to Pierce. Frankly I thought Ross was selling himself way short with playing the character under such a stupid name. No offense Ross, you're my boy, but this is a brilliant change. You'll move forward from here for sure.
With Douglas I really can't say. I honestly don't know a whole lot about him and I haven't been around or active in PRIME at the times that he's really been super active to show off what he's got. I'm hoping he can get back to 100% so I can see if he can live up to what everyone else believes he's capable of.
2. The Redeemed shelled out a hype video and declared they would be the team to walk out with the Tag Team Championships. Wicked Ways and Wolves of Slaughter had differing opinions and the trio of duos hooked up in a wild contest that saw a plethora of saves and near falls. At one point, both members of Wolves of Slaughter attempted to screw their rivals when they were both the legal people in the ring, but that attempt failed. In the end, Kazys and Elise continued their dominance in PRIME by claiming the tag gold. The next night, Elise tried to hijack and modify the Main Event to include the Wolves but was rejected by The Boss. Can The Redeemed or Wicked Ways get their hands on the gold or do the Wolves have an iron grip on the tag division? Do Elise and Kazys even stay in the tag division or will they venture into singles endeavors?
This is a VERY interesting situation. So let me just go through this thing in order here. HUGE win for the Wolves and I think they're one intimidating team that could be quite dominate. Billy and Kat together on one team is just a powerhouse of talent that will be hard to knock off. I'm hoping to see them give it 100% in the tag division and see how far they can go with it.
That said I wouldn't be shocked if they wind up venturing into singles roles sooner rather than later. They're both so talented, and have already banked shots at singles glory, that I could easily see them going after that. Tag team divisions, after all, are always, unfortunately if you ask me, having to transition because nobody ever seems to want to stay in them. I know from my own personal experience here I had the most fun ever, in this entire hobby, when i was in the tag division as Los Diablos. We had it rocking with a bunch of teams and looking great and then all the sudden, after a PPV, I'm looking around and a division that was once 8 or 9 teams was down to 3 or 4 in the blink of an eye. It was heartbreaking and crushed me. So all that said I'd LOVE for Billy and Kat to stick it out in the tag division as their main goal.
Now finally the whole thing of trying to push their way into the main event. Honestly that was awesome. If that had went down, and they had some how won, that would have been flat out amazing. They'd have the Tag Titles, the 5-Star title, and the Universal title in their control and that would have been one impressive PPV showing. I liked that it was at least thrown out there on the card, but like I said above, ultimately I'd hope that Billy and Kat concentrate on being the best tag team this federation has ever seen and on helping to build this place another high quality, competitive, division.
3. The Elite Championship match definitely had some entertaining personalities and none of them disappointed at Colossus. Desade brought along Aimz and an entire army of followers. Wyatt Connors brought some friends. Hessian brought along...his giant beard. While never fully trusting one another, Desade and Connors seemed hellbent on eliminating Hessian from the match due to his massive size advantage. Ultimately, the ending was one of the wildest melees seen in recent memory, with Connors and Desade's followers crashing the party all at the same time. The Murder Show was the one who ended up sneaking away with the belt, proving that you can't ignore the (really really really) big elephant in the room under any circumstances. Does Wyatt Connors deserve a rematch after taking the Elite Championship to new heights? How do you feel Hessian's reign as Champion will go? Will SCCW come back for more?
MUCHO congrats to Hessian on one of the more impressive wins you'll see anywhere in PTC. The fact that he beat Connors and Desade is just mind blowing. That's two extremely tough draws if you're facing either of them one on one but to be facing both at once? WOW. Super impressive. Ross might have turned in the biggest turn around and return since he cameback. He's a million times tougher than when I last remember him being in PRIME. Just a fantastic outing. Big props to him.
I don't think PRIME will have seen the last of SCCW by any stretch. There is no way that Joe is going to take this defeat lying down and I'd imagine we'll see them back at some point to try and get some retribution. Anything that will get Connors more time on PTC related events, shows, and everything outside of just SCCW is a big plus to me. That guy is fantastic.
4. Despite what people may think of him, Chandler Tsonda is a fierce competitor. He finally clashed with Wade Elliott in what was perhaps the most perplexing match on the card. Tsonda dominated the match from start to finish after making a pretty wild entrance (Dude came out on a hoverboard, straight up ballin, dawg). He had The Bad Dog all but ready to submit when word came from Lisa Tyler that a submission could no longer win the match. Tsonda then had Elliott ready to pin before Lisa Tyler again stepped in, declaring the pinfall ineligible to win the match. Finally, Tsonda had to choose between knocking Elliott out or getting him counted out. Tsonda chose the former and walked away the winner. Later, he threw some snide remarks at Lisa Tyler during his Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Where does Chandler Tsonda go from here? Does he look for another crack at Jason Snow or does he seek out someone else?
Ok this might be the first part of my feedback that will make anyone frown or upset people, and please it's not intended to piss anyone off, it's just how I feel.
First let me say that Tsonda winning is a big win for him. Elliot was right on the cusp of being a main event superstar and now it seems like maybe he's faded out a bit. That's a shame cause he's a quality character that I thought was really improving and moving forward with the heel turn. So big win for Will in this match up.
The hall of fame thing is where I'll likely upset a few people. I hate it. Just HATE IT. Now I don't hate it because I don't think Will should be in. He should be, he's a Hall of Fame guy, for sure but at the right time. I absolutely loath it when people are inducted into the Hall of Fame before they've retired the character. I just hate that. The story of his career isn't finished so why put him in yet? They don't put football players, or baseball players, or anyone in the Hall before they're done, why do it here? I know we're not on the same time frame of time, in terms of making a hall of fame career, in efeds but we should still wait till they're done with that character, entirely, to put them in. That's just my thoughts on it though. Big congrats to Will, none the less, on being selected into it. That's a huge honor.
5. Even though there was a tremendous amount of activity on Night 1, everybody knew that the swan song of Killean Sirrajin would be the headline attraction. His bout with Tyler Nelson had been one of the marquee matches anticipated ever since The Greediest Player in the Game wrecked Sirrajin's retirement ceremony many ReVolutions ago. Before the match, Nelson demanded that Lisa Tyler step down from her position and hand him the reigns of PRIME. The Boss didn't accept that proposal, opting instead to offer Nelson a standard wrestling contract if he defeated The Supreme Machine. Through hoodwink and kicking out of a Supreme Justice, Nelson did what nobody believed he would do and came out the victor, thereby increasing his role on the PRIME roster. Sirrajin capped off the evening with an emotional goodbye and said he would visit every once in a while. Give a few thoughts on the career of Sirrajin from what you know. Also, where will Tyler Nelson end up? He's still stuck in the power struggle with BLT but now he's a wrestler who is going to have to compete whenever summoned. That's not exactly his forte.
First off will this really be the end of Killean? I know D has toyed with the idea of shelving him for good on otehr occassions so I'm wondering if he'll really shelve him for good this time. I'm actually hoping he doesn't as I love the character and I think D's at his best with him. Unless of course this ushers in the return of Raymes. Then I might be happier.
That said D has done it all with Killean. Killean is the face of PRIME's history. D's had him here for so long that PRIME and Killean just go hand in hand. They're like peanut butter and jelly. It was a great way to go out though and in typical D fashion worked out in the most classy way possible, putting someone else over on his way out. That's how it should be done folks.
As for Nelson I'm PUMPED TO THE MAX that Rob has returned him to a full time wrestling role. This is one of my all time favorite characters, one of the absolute best heels in the game, and it's just so much fun to watch this guy use Tyler on shows. I'm smiling ear to ear right now as I type this thinking about how great it's going to be to see Nelson on PRIME shows scheming and plotting and such as much as possible. Awesome deal for PRIME.
Night 2
1. Nova and Sonny Silver came and rocked the motherfucking house with their entrances. They haven't been full time wrestlers in quite a while but that doesn't mean they've forgotten how to entertain the masses. They also got an unforeseen present when Garbage Bag Johnny was assisted out to the ring by Hessian in a wheelbarrow, effectively turning the opening contest of Night 2 into a handicap match. Considering how it went down though, it might have been a handicap match for Hessian, who dominated the PRIME Hall of Famers. He got a clutch assist from GBJ, who woke from his stupor and clocked Nova with his bottle of booze. Hessian walks away from Colossus with two victories. If there was a power ranking system for PRIME, where would you put The Murder Show right now? And just so we can give some love to the legends, how hard did you laugh when Nova misspelled penis?
It was great to see Silver and Nova on the show. I wish those two would comeback to PRIME for more than spot appearances or one off deals. They're quality and always entertaining. I loved the entrances. Brilliant stuff.
The match was great, without a doubt, and the win for Hessian and GBJ, mostly Hessian, is just HUGE. Is there a more scary guy in all of PTC, let alone PRIME, right now than Hessian? Outside of Jason Snow or Aimz over at SCCW I don't know that you could find anyone as dominate as Ross has been as of late. Just look at the list of names he's knocking off on his way to becoming one of the most reconized and feared names in PRIME and it will really give you reason to worry if you've got to face him. An Elite title win and a tag team victory over Nova and Silver. Wow. Silver, Nova, Desade, and Connors are added to the list of people he's gone through as of late. It doesn't get much more impressive than that.
2. David Noble had been surrounded by controversy ever since his suicide attempt was publicized. Lisa Tyler held a conversation with The Rising Star but Noble refused to divulge any details, deciding to focus his attention on capturing the Intense Championship. The champion, Jonathan Rhine, elected for a quiet build up and came into the match hoping to retain. Chainz rolled into the Pay-Per-View with a six match win streak, looking to cap off an incredible arc by capturing his first ever PRIME gold. The Monster from Hell's Kitchen achieved his desire (Well, maybe not, considering he didn't get to bag Lisa Tyler later in the evening, but that is another story) and is now a champion. His win streak is now at lucky seven. Can Chainz live up to the expectations of previous title holders and show strength in the Intense division? How long do you think he can hold onto the win streak? Will David Noble be able to recover from this loss and move forward despite the cloud hanging over his head?
This win for Mike is only shocking in one regard...how the heck was this the first time this guy has held gold here? I'm shocked by that. Impressive win for Mike. Chainz is tailor made for this division and with the sick mind that Mike seems to be able to display, through Chainz, I could see the violence and intensity of the division really picking up during his reign. We should see some things we've never seen before now that he's the man holding up the gold. The only regret on this is that Nate didn't work out the arc, or show up for the match properly, to put the new champion over. I know he left, and was part of SCCW now, but it would have only been right for him to do that. I can't harp on him too much for that though cause I've been on the other end of that where I didn't put anyone over properly when leaving. From that experience I know it's not the right way to do it though.
3. Arguably the most personal match on Colossus was Jay Phoenix and Jason Natas. These two had a rivalry ever since January of this year and Colossus was the blow off show to end it all. To make the match even juicier, Natas made the contest a Loser Leaves PRIME match, which Phoenix reluctantly accepted atop the I Quit stipulation. They brawled back and forth with Natas almost always one step ahead of The Eternal Flame. The match ended in controversial fashion when Natas threatened Phoenix's boyfriend and made Phoenix quit, thereby ending his career in PRIME. After the match, Phoenix screamed that it wasn't supposed to end in this fashion. Is this really the end of Jay Phoenix? He has constantly threatened to quit and is now, technically, out of a job. What motive would Lisa Tyler have for rehiring him (if she does) considering he's been somewhat of a thorn in her side?
This was a great match up. The emotion was all there. The ending was brilliant, given the feud and the story. I'm confused on this being the end for Jay though. I can't imagine this is actually how Jay is going to go out in PRIME and, really, unless they're going for the shock factor of the hero losing out in the end, in such an emotional way, and never returning to even the score I can't see this actually being the end. I'd imagine at some point soon enough we'll see the return of Jay in PRIME, it almost has to happen given the way that Natas chose to win the match up.
4. Mind games are sometimes lost in the grand spectacle of the wrestling industry. Seldom do they carry a feud from the start until the bitter end. In the case of Devin Shakur vs Bryan Dawkins, psychology was the only fuel driving them forward to Colossus. Shakur wanted to put the young buck out of his misery. Dawkins wanted to prove that he belonged with the big boys and strike a blow for those who have been slighted by The Man in Black. Both men used the cage and ended up bleeding like stuck pigs all over the ring. In the end, Shakur used every dirty tactic in the book (A planted fan, a smuggled pipe and Christian Daniels posing as a cameraman) to defeat The Flyin Hawaiian. Shakur put his own diabolical stamp on the feud by planting Dawkins in the center of the ring with a purposely botched tombstone piledriver, leaving The Bruh motionless on the canvas and escorted from the building on a stretcher. Who will step up and challenge Shakur next? For that matter, who wants to? Can Bryan Dawkins recover from his injury and continue on in PRIME at such a high level?
A couple of things really struck me about this match. First I enjoyed it and it is probably my favorite match type. I'm a sucker for a good plain old cage match. I loved the under handed tactics and all the stuff that Shakur did to pull out the win but given that Chris is taking over PRIME now I honestly thought he'd be putting Dawkins over in this match up. I can't imagine he'll be actually actively handling in a full time capacity and certainly not in one that would allow him to main event or anything. I think putting over Dawkins would have really helped PRIME in that regard. Now it could be that Dawkins is leaving for a while, due to this injury ending, and I wouldn't know about that so that would obviously change my opinion on this. But outside of that I just think it would have been a better transition for Chris and PRIME to simply have Dawkins get that huge win.
5. It was the match that garnered the most buzz ever since its announcement. The top two championships in PRIME were on the line in a single match as Universal Champion Jason Snow took on 5 Star Champion Kaiser Vashaun. Only one man would walk away with both belts and become the most dominant person on the PRIME roster. The Original Villain came into the night with an eerie focus, throwing his massive ego by the wayside. Kaiser Vashaun entered the ring from the crowd at the last minute, speculation concluding that he might not make it to the event. Both men left everything in the ring and then some, providing Colossus with a classic ending. Once the smoke had cleared, Jason Snow and Snake Eyes stood atop the PRIME mountain, a double Champion. The man. Can you see Snow actively defending both belts? Who on the roster can actually stop him? Can anybody? Does Kaiser Vashaun deserve another crack at either belt?
This was by far the best match of the two nights and as well it should have been. It lived up to every ounce of hype, it lived up to every prediction, talk, roleplay, seg, everything that had been done leading up to it. It was a fitting main event for the biggest PPV of the PRIME year and it might well be one of the top two main events in this PPV's history. This was HUGE. Absolutely HUGE.
Big time congrats to Dave for pulling off the win in this. Matt has always, and will always, be a tough out and for Dave to get it on the biggest Main Event of all is super impressive. I'm hoping we'll see Dave really run with the ball on this dual title thing. I'd love to see him show Snow just as obsessed with keeping the 5-Star title, and being the best in that division, as he is with the Universal. This should be a very interesting arc coming up with him holding two belts that have so many big time challengers for it. I'm looking forward to it.
With Matt you never know where he goes from here. I certainly could see him getting a rematch. You couldn't really argue against the merit of him having one. I could also see him taking this in an entirely different direction and focusing on something else. It should be interesting no matter which way he goes.
Best Wrestlers of Colossus
1. Hessian - It would be easy to put Dave here with Snow, given that he beat Matt in the main event for the biggest prize, but I've got to go with Hessian because of the volume of what he did. He won the PTC Elite Championship, he took out 4 top notch handlers on the two nights. That's about as dominate as guy could get. He has to be #1 with what he did over the course of two nights.
2. Jason Snow - HUGE win over Kaiser. That was absolutely HUGE. Snow seems all but unbeatable at this point. Could we possibly see the Elite Champion step up as the next contender to Snow's throne?
3. Wolves of Slaughter - A huge Tag Team Championship pick up and the guts to try and put themselves into the main event of the whole show puts them in the spotlight for me.
Best Line of Colossus: The Penus line by Nova. It wins going away.
Best Entrance of Colossus: I'm going to have to go with Tsonda. I just thought that was pretty cool the way he came out.
Best Matches of Colossus:
1. Title for Title main event
2. Elite Championship
3. Jay vs. Natas
Overall Thoughts?
Brilliant show. This was so well done from start to finish. I really am starting to love the two day thing they do with this one and Culture Shock. This show as none stop action, emotion, and great match writing from the opening bell of night one to the last call of night two. The only real downer was the lack of segment work on night one. I thought some of the night two people could have really set up, and hyped, night two a bit with some night one work but even that's not a huge problem. PPV's probably shouldn't be filled with loads of segments anyway.
This was the perfect way to end the reign of Lindz as the fedhead here and go right into Chris taking over. Lindz went out with a bang this way and I'm glad to see that. I'm looking forward to the transition and to see what new talent might come into, or return to, PRIME with all this. PRIME is really cooking now and is doing everything in their power to make the case for being the #1 federation in PTC.
